TikTok commenters are your warmest leads. Here's how to reach them.

Scroll through the comments under any popular video in your niche. "How do you find clients?" "Our ads stopped working." "Is this worth it for a small shop?" Those aren't comments. They're people raising their hand. Most sellers scroll right past them, or buy a comment-to-DM tool and wonder why it never sends anything. Here's why that happens, and how to turn those comments into real conversations.

    Why commenters beat cold lists

A bought list tells you someone has a job title. A comment tells you what they're thinking about this week, in their own words. That's the difference between guessing at relevance and knowing it.

Commenters also self-select. Someone who watched a video about scaling a coaching business all the way through and then typed a question is paying attention to exactly your topic. You're not interrupting them. You're continuing a conversation they started.

Why comment-to-DM tools can't reach them

Comment-to-DM tools are built on TikTok's official messaging API, and the API has a hard rule. Chatfuel's documentation puts it plainly: you cannot send a direct message to someone who has never texted you in DMs, and public comments don't open a messaging window.

So the automation works when someone comments on your own video and then messages you. It does nothing for the thousands of people commenting on other people's videos, which is where most of your market is.

Use those tools for your own inbound. For everyone else, you need to go to them.

    The workflow, step by step

    1. 1Find five to ten videos in your niche with lots of comments from people who look like buyers.
    2. 2Collect the commenters. Note what each one said, because that's your opener.
    3. 3Drop anyone who clearly isn't a fit: personal accounts with no business, accounts that look under 18, competitors.
    4. 4Visit each profile. Check the DM door is open and look for a website in the bio.
    5. 5Engage first: like a video or two, leave one real comment.
    6. 6A day or two later, send a short DM that picks up their original comment.
    7. 7Follow up once or twice if they go quiet, with a new angle each time.

It's simple. It's also slow by hand. Twenty good conversations a day means a few hours of clicking, reading and writing, every day.

    The opener writes itself

The best part of working with commenters is that they already gave you the first line. Quote the thought, not the exact words, and ask something that moves it forward.

    Picks up their commentGets replies

Hey Priya, saw your question under Alex's video about finding coaching clients. Did you end up trying outbound, or still mostly relying on content?

Don't pretend you stumbled on them by accident. Say where you saw them. It's honest, and it explains why a stranger is in their inbox.

    Ignores what they saidGets ignored

Same person, same offer. The first version shows you read what she wrote and asks about her situation. The second could have gone to anyone, and on TikTok, where DMs from strangers already feel out of place, anything that looks like a template gets ignored or reported.

    Where this breaks down

Three things kill this workflow when people try it by hand. They skip the warm-up and send DMs from a fresh account, so messages get held back. They check replies once a day, so conversations go cold. And they stop after a week because it's tedious.

If you do it yourself, protect the boring parts: a steady daily number, the engagement before the DM, and replying fast. The ones who get results from TikTok commenters are the ones who keep going in week four.

    06

Measure by video, not by week

Not every video's comment section is equal. Keep a note of which video each lead came from, then after a couple of weeks look at replies and booked calls per video. You'll usually find that one or two kinds of video produce most of your good conversations.

Maybe it's the how-to videos from a certain creator. Maybe it's videos about one specific pain, like rising ad costs or no-show clients. Whatever it is, go find more videos like that and collect from those first. Drop the sources that bring you fans instead of buyers.

That habit alone will do more for your reply rate than rewriting your opener for the fifth time.

    How Bazooka handles this

What it does on TikTok, step by step.

Paste a TikTok video and Bazooka collects everyone commenting on it. It can also collect the followers of any profile, who it follows and TikTok's suggested accounts, and your own followers. Each profile is checked against your filters and the business website behind it is researched.

From a warmed account we provide, it views the profile, likes and comments on 1 to 3 videos, and sends the personal DM on a later day, at 15 to 25 profile views and 12 to 18 DMs a day per account. The inbox is swept on a schedule, and the AI answers, follows up and books the call. Bazooka learns which videos' commenters reply most and weights those sources up.

    FAQ

    Questions people ask

Is it okay to DM someone because of a comment they left?

Yes, if you're upfront about where you saw them and the message is relevant to what they said. It's far less random than a message based on a job title.

How many commenters should I collect per video?

All of them, then filter hard. Most comment sections are mostly fans. The few who clearly run a business or asked a question about your topic are the ones worth a DM.

Can I automate replies to comments on my own videos?

Yes, through tools built on TikTok's messaging API, but only once the person messages you. The API allows up to 10 messages in a 48-hour window that resets when they reply.
