How big is Discord, and is it still just gaming?
Discord has more than 200 million monthly active users, and it filed confidentially for a US IPO in January 2026. Gaming is still the biggest slice. But Discord has spent years pushing into communities of every kind, and B2B communities moved in early.

Some of the biggest communities in tech live there. Midjourney built the largest single server on Discord, with nearly 20 million members, almost entirely community-first. Developer tools, AI products and SaaS companies run servers for support, betas and power users. Founder groups, agency masterminds and cohort courses keep their members talking in Discord long after the event ends.
Which B2B companies win on Discord?
- SaaS and AI tools selling to founders and builders.
- Developer tools and infrastructure, whose users live in product servers.
- Agencies and freelancers selling to startups, creators and Web3 teams.
- Services for creators, streamers and online communities.
- Coaches and course businesses whose buyers are in cohort servers.
What they share: their buyers are online, technical or creator-minded, and comfortable chatting with strangers in a community. That's who Discord is full of. If that's your buyer, here's how to find B2B buyers on Discord.
Who should skip Discord?
- Enterprise sales to procurement teams and C-level buyers at big companies.
- Traditional industries like manufacturing, legal or healthcare, where buyers aren't in servers.
- Local businesses selling to consumers in one city.
- Any offer where you need to know the company and title before you talk.
Discord gives you roles and activity, not firmographics. If your targeting depends on "VP of Operations at a 500-person company", LinkedIn is still the right tool.
A quick test: list 5 servers your buyers would be in. If you can't name 5, or they're all huge general servers, Discord probably isn't your channel yet.
How is Discord outreach different from LinkedIn?
On LinkedIn, a cold message is compared to other sales messages. On Discord, it's compared to scams. Fake Nitro gifts and fake support staff have trained everyone to ignore unexpected DMs. Here's how to write one that doesn't read like a scam.
The mechanics differ too. DMs from people who aren't your friend may be filtered into Message Requests, and since March 2026 every account is treated as a teen account until it's confirmed as adult, which keeps that filter on (what changed). A friend request, once accepted, puts your messages in the normal inbox.
- Context: on LinkedIn it's title and company. On Discord it's the server you share and the role they hold.
- First touch: on LinkedIn a connection request. On Discord a plain friend request, then a DM on accept.
- Tone: on LinkedIn a short professional note. On Discord 3 or 4 casual lines, no link.
Hey Priya, saw you have the Hiring role in Growth Ops Collective. Congrats on growing the team. Is outbound part of what the new hires will own?
What's the biggest advantage of Discord for B2B?
It's quiet. Your buyers get dozens of LinkedIn pitches a week and almost none on Discord. A relevant message from a fellow member stands out instead of blending in.
Shared context also does a lot of work. You're not a stranger from a list, you're someone from the same community, with the same role or the same interest. That's the framing people respond to.
What do you need before you start?
Discord punishes people who show up cold. Get these in place first:
- A list of 5 to 8 servers where your buyers talk about their work, with rules that allow DMs.
- Accounts that look like members: a real avatar, an about me that says what you do, some history in those servers.
- Separate accounts for outreach, so your personal account and your community reputation are never at risk.
- One clear sentence about who you help, because that's what people check when they tap your name.
- Time to answer fast. Discord is live chat, and slow replies read as a lack of interest.
None of this is complicated. It just has to be done before the first request, not after the first ban.
How do you test Discord for B2B in 3 weeks?
- 1Week 1: join 5 to 8 servers your buyers use. Read the rules, introduce yourself, take part in a channel or two.
- 2Week 1: from the member lists, pick 100 people whose role and activity fit your buyer. Skip bots and mods.
- 3Weeks 2 and 3: send 10 to 15 plain friend requests a day per account. DM each person soon after they accept.
- 4Weeks 2 and 3: follow up once or twice with anyone who goes quiet.
- 5End of week 3: count accept rate, reply rate and calls booked per server.
If accept rates are low, your targeting or your profile is the problem, not Discord. If accepts are good but replies aren't, rewrite the opener around the shared server and role. If both are good and calls get booked, scale it.
What it does on Discord, step by step.
Bazooka runs Discord as one of its 8 channels. You paste a channel link from a server you're already in and it reads the whole member list, keeping each member's role, presence and activity, with bots skipped. Your own Discord friends can be collected as a list too.
It sends a plain friend request, and the DM goes out the moment it's accepted, written from the shared server and role, then the about me, status and activity. Limits stay at 15 to 25 friend requests and 12 to 18 DMs a day per account, on ready-made profiles we provide. The AI closer answers instantly and books the call, and the loop learns which servers and roles accept and reply most, so effort moves there.
Questions people ask
Is Discord good for B2B lead generation?
For SaaS, AI, developer tools, agencies and creator businesses, yes. Their founders and operators spend a lot of time in niche servers. For enterprise and traditional industries, it's usually a poor fit.
How many people use Discord?
Discord has more than 200 million monthly active users, a figure widely reported around its confidential IPO filing in January 2026.
Can you find business owners on Discord?
Yes, in founder communities, agency masterminds, product servers and cohort servers. Roles like Founder or Agency tell you who someone is in that community.
Is cold outreach allowed on Discord?
Discord bans spam and self-bots, and many servers ban promotional DMs. Relevant, low-volume outreach to people you share a server with, starting with a friend request, is the approach that respects both.
Is Discord better than LinkedIn for B2B?
Not better, different. LinkedIn wins on title targeting and enterprise buyers. Discord wins on context and quiet inboxes for tech, AI and creator audiences. Many teams run both.
Do Discord DMs from strangers get delivered?
Usually, but by default they're filtered into Message Requests. Once someone accepts your friend request, your DMs arrive in their normal inbox.
