How to find B2B buyers on Discord: servers, roles and the signals worth chasing

Nobody puts “Head of Growth, 50 to 200 employees” on a Discord profile. There's no Sales Navigator here. And still, some of the best-fit buyers for SaaS, AI and agency offers spend hours a day inside Discord servers. You just have to know where to look and how to read what you find. Here's how to build a Discord lead list that's actually worth messaging.

Why Discord is worth the effort

Tech communities moved in years ago and never left. SaaS founder groups, AI builder servers, developer tool communities, agency masterminds. B2B companies run their own servers for beta tests, office hours, client channels and partner hubs.

Some of these communities are huge. Midjourney grew the largest single server on Discord almost entirely community-first, with no traditional advertising.

Most niche B2B servers are far smaller, a few hundred to a few thousand members. That's fine. A 2,000-person server full of SaaS founders is a better list than any scraped database.

    02

Pick servers by who's in them, not how big they are

The mistake is joining the biggest server in your space. Big general servers are full of students, lurkers and people selling to the same audience you are. Smaller, focused servers where members have to apply, pay or verify their role are where the buyers are.

    • Founder and operator communities with role verification.
    • Paid or application-only masterminds in your niche.
    • Servers run by tools your buyers already use.
    • Regional startup and agency communities.
    • Event and cohort servers that keep going after the event.

Join them properly. Read the rules, introduce yourself, show up in a channel or two. You'll learn the language your buyers use, which is worth more than any list.

    03

Roles and activity are your filters

Discord doesn't give you firmographics. It gives you something better for timing: roles and activity. A server's roles are self-reported filters. “Founder,” “Agency,” “Hiring,” “Pro member” tell you who someone is in that community, and they picked it themselves.

Activity tells you who's actually there. A member who posts in #growth every day is reachable. A member who joined two years ago and never spoke probably isn't. The about me and custom status fill in the rest: what they build, what they're working on this week.

    04

Respect the server's rules on self-promotion

Many servers ban advertising in channels, and plenty ban unsolicited promotional DMs too. Members can and do report DMs to mods. Get banned from a server and you lose the list and the goodwill in one go.

Community marketers often quote a 90/10 rule: 90 percent genuine help, 10 percent anything that looks like promotion. Take the spirit of it. Never drop your offer in a channel. When you DM, make it a real question about their business, not an ad. If the server says no DMs for promotion, don't treat that server as a source.

Your own account matters here too. Keep your personal account for your community and do outreach from separate accounts at a human pace. Give each of those accounts a real avatar, an about me that says what you do, and time in the servers before it reaches out to anyone. A brand-new blank profile asking for a friend request looks exactly like the spam people have learned to decline.

    05

Score the list, then start the conversation

A member list of 2,000 isn't 2,000 leads. Before any outreach, cut it down. The fastest pass takes minutes and saves you from burning requests on people who were never going to answer.

    1. 1Remove bots, moderators and staff.
    2. 2Keep members whose role matches your buyer.
    3. 3Keep members who've been active recently.
    4. 4Read the about me for the rest and keep the ones who describe a business you can help.

What's left is usually a much smaller list. It's also the list that accepts, replies and books.

Once you've got the right servers, the list is the members themselves, filtered by role and activity. The outreach order is friend request first, then a DM on accept, because DMs from non-friends land in Message Requests by default. Open with the server and role you share.

    Built from the roleGets replies

Hey Priya, saw you have the Hiring role in Growth Ops Collective. Congrats on growing the team. Is outbound part of what the new hires will own?

    How Bazooka handles this

What it does on Discord, step by step.

You paste a channel link from a server you're already in, and Bazooka reads the whole member list, keeping each member's role, presence and activity. Bots are skipped and duplicates removed. Your own Discord friends can be collected as a list too.

Research starts from the shared server and role, then the about me, status and activity. A plain friend request goes out first, the DM the moment it's accepted, then AI follow-ups, at 15 to 25 friend requests and 12 to 18 DMs a day per account, on accounts Bazooka provides. The AI closer books the call, and every result feeds back in: members with a role that accept more get prioritized, and servers that don't reply get weighted down.

    FAQ

    Questions people ask

Do I have to be in a Discord server to collect its members?

Yes. Member lists are only visible to members, so you work with servers you've actually joined. That's also why joining properly and following the rules matters.

Is Discord good for B2B or only for gaming?

Gaming is the biggest slice, but SaaS, AI, developer and agency communities are large and very active. For tech buyers it can outperform channels that are crowded with outreach.

What's the best signal on a Discord profile?

The role they hold in the server you share, followed by their activity. Together they tell you who they are and whether they're around to answer.
