Is Instagram good for getting clients in 2026?
For the right buyer, it's one of the best channels there is. E-commerce founders, agencies, coaches and trades businesses like HVAC, roofing and contractors run their business from their phone, and Instagram is open on it all day.

The catch: almost nobody on Instagram is waiting for a sales message. You win by looking like a person who knows their world, not like an ad. Everything below follows from that.
Does your profile turn a visit into a conversation?
Every good DM gets a profile visit back. Before they reply, they tap your name. Your profile has a few seconds to answer two questions: who do you help, and is it real?
- Bio: who you help, the result and the next step. “Helping DTC brands get wholesale calls without ads. DM “wholesale” to see how.”
- Highlights: results, a short “how it works” and client messages. Proof beats polish.
- Link in bio: one link to a booking page or a case study, not a list of 12.
- Last 9 posts: at least a few about your buyer's problem, so the grid matches the bio.
You don't need 10,000 followers. You need a profile that makes sense to the one person who just read your DM.
Where do your clients already hang out on Instagram?
Don't search hashtags for hours. Your buyers have already gathered around other accounts. Find those accounts and you've found your list.
- 1Commenters on posts and Reels in your niche. Someone who commented on a Reel about rising ad costs told you their problem in public. These are the warmest leads Instagram has.
- 2Followers of accounts your buyers trust: a supplier, a software tool, a well-known coach in the niche.
- 3Your own followers. Many follow you and have never had a single message from you.
Commenters reply more than followers, because the comment gives you something real to talk about.
How do you warm someone up before the DM?
A cold DM from a stranger lands in Requests. If it looks templated, it goes into Hidden Requests, where it's basically invisible. We explain the filter in why your DMs land in Hidden Requests.
The fix is the same thing a person would do. Visit the profile, like 1 to 3 posts and leave a short, real comment on one. Then send the DM on a later day, when your name already looks familiar.
What should your first DM say?
Short, about them, one easy question. No link, no pitch deck, no “quick question” that isn't quick.

Hey Ryan, saw your comment about ads getting expensive. We help DTC brands book wholesale calls through DMs instead of paid ads. Want me to show you how?
The second one works because it starts from something they actually said. More openers to adapt are in Instagram cold DMs that get replies.
Keep the volume human. Instagram doesn't publish a limit, and community estimates put an established profile at 30 to 40 cold DMs a day, much less on a new one. The details are in Instagram DM limits.
How do you turn a DM into a booked call?
Answer fast. Harvard Business Review found that firms that reached a lead within an hour were nearly 7 times as likely to qualify it as firms that waited longer. In DMs, a reply that sits overnight goes cold.
Then have a conversation, not a script. Answer what they asked, ask one question back, and offer a specific time once it's clear you can help:
Maybe. We tried an agency last year, didn't love it.
Fair. This isn't an agency, it's a system that runs your DMs and books the calls. Want to see it on a quick call? Tuesday at 11 works on my side.
If they go quiet, follow up once or twice with something new, not “just bumping this”. Most conversations need more than one nudge.
Should you post content too?
Yes, as proof. Content is what people check after your DM, and Reels with a comment-to-DM keyword turn your audience into inbound conversations. Tools like ManyChat and Inrō handle that inbound side cheaply. We compare them in the best Instagram DM automation tools.
But don't wait for content to do the selling. One post a week about your buyer's problem, plus steady outbound conversations, beats 3 posts a day and no DMs.
What it does on Instagram, step by step.
Bazooka runs this whole routine for you. It collects leads from the followers of accounts your buyers follow, commenters on posts and Reels, and your own followers, then reads each bio, comment, link in bio and website. Each prospect gets a profile view with a like and a short comment on 1 to 3 posts, and the personal DM follows on a later day, at 15 to 25 profile views and 12 to 18 DMs a day per profile.
Replies are picked up live, including cold replies in General. The AI closer answers, handles objections, follows up and books the call onto your calendar, and the system learns which sources and openers work for you. See how it runs Instagram, check pricing, or get a demo.
Questions people ask
How do I find clients on Instagram?
Look at the commenters on posts and Reels in your niche, the followers of accounts your buyers trust, and your own followers. Commenters are the warmest, because they told you their problem in public.
How many DMs should I send a day on Instagram?
Instagram doesn't publish a limit. Community estimates put an established profile around 30 to 40 cold DMs a day and a new one at 10 to 20. Staying well under that, with likes and comments first, keeps the profile safe.
Can I get clients on Instagram without many followers?
Yes. Outbound conversations don't depend on your follower count. A clear bio and a few posts about your buyer's problem are enough for the profile check after your DM.
Should I put a link in my first DM?
No. Links in first messages look like spam and push DMs into Hidden Requests. Earn the reply first, then share the link.
How long does it take to get a client from Instagram?
With steady outreach, first conversations usually start in the first week and first calls follow within a couple of weeks. Closing depends on your offer and price.
Do I need a business account to get clients on Instagram?
No. A personal or creator profile works for outbound conversations. A business or creator account adds insights and is needed for official-API tools like ManyChat.
