What happened to GummySearch?
GummySearch was the tool most founders used to research Reddit audiences. It stopped taking new signups and renewals on November 30, 2025, after it couldn't reach an agreement with Reddit for a commercial license to its Data API. It had served more than 140,000 founders, marketers and investors.

GummySearch stops signups and renewals after failing to secure a commercial Reddit API license

That matters for every tool on this list. Around the same time, Reddit introduced its Responsible Builder Policy: new API access now needs approval, and bots have to disclose that they're bots. Any tool built on the API lives on Reddit's terms. Ask how a tool gets its data before you build a process around it.
Which tools just find the threads?
Monitoring tools watch Reddit for keywords and tell you when something matches. They're the cheapest place to start.
F5Bot (free)
Emails you when your keywords show up on Reddit, Hacker News or Lobsters. No dashboard, no scoring, no frills. If you've never monitored Reddit, start here this afternoon.
OctoLens (from about $159 a month)
Brand and keyword monitoring across 13+ sources, including Reddit, GitHub and Stack Overflow. Good for dev tool companies that need to see every mention, not just Reddit ones.
Monitoring solves the finding problem. It does nothing about the slow part, which is reading each thread, deciding who's worth talking to and writing to them.
Which tools find threads and write replies?
The biggest category in 2026. These tools score threads for buying intent and draft a comment or reply for you to post.
- RedShip (from $29 a month): keyword monitoring across subreddits, buyer-intent alerts and reply drafts. Popular with solo founders.
- Subreddit Signals (from $29 a month): classifies posts by buyer intent and generates draft replies.
- Popsy (from $19 a month): lead discovery on Reddit, with drafted comments and DMs.
- ReplyGuy (from $39 a month): finds mentions on Reddit and X, then writes the reply.
- Redreach (from $19 a month): AI lead finding with a focus on competitor mentions.
- Leado: monitors Reddit around the clock, detects intent and writes human-sounding replies.
What about tools that post for you?
Some tools go further and post comments for you, from their accounts or yours. Bazzly, from about $199 a month, is one example. The appeal is obvious: presence in many threads without the hours.
The risk is just as obvious. Reddit's spam systems read account behaviour over time. An account that only appears to recommend one product looks like what Reddit calls "a website with a Reddit account". And with AI answers quoting Reddit threads, a thread full of people calling out a brand is the worst thing that can happen to you. If you go this route, understand exactly whose accounts are posting and how often.
What's missing from almost every Reddit tool?
The conversation. Finding a thread where someone says "we're a 9-person agency and cold email is dead for us" is step 1 (here's how to find those threads). Steps 2 to 6 are where the money is: deciding if they fit, understanding their situation, starting a private chat they'll accept, replying fast when they answer, following up when they go quiet, and booking the call.
Public replies also only reach the original poster. The people answering in the thread, the ones who wrote "we tried two agencies, both flopped", are often better leads and never hear from you.
Hey, saw your comment in the r/sales thread about agencies flopping at outbound. What made you drop the second one, the lead quality or the messaging?
That's why Reddit tools split into 2 groups. Listening tools, which most of this list is. And outreach systems, which do the conversation part.

- 1Just testing Reddit? F5Bot plus an hour a day reading threads by hand.
- 2Building a brand in a few subreddits, as yourself? A reply-drafting tool like RedShip or Subreddit Signals, used sparingly and disclosed.
- 3Need every mention across dev communities? OctoLens.
- 4Want booked calls from the people in those threads? An outreach system that collects authors and commenters, writes from what they said and runs the chat.
Ask every vendor 3 questions before you pay. Where does the data come from, given the API rules? Whose account does anything public come from? And what happens after someone replies?
Then price it against your time, not against the other tools. A $29 monitoring tool that surfaces 40 good threads a week still leaves you 5 to 10 hours of reading, deciding, writing and replying. If those hours are yours as a founder, that's the real cost. A tool that only saves the 20 minutes of searching isn't cheap, it's just small. Decide which part of the job you want gone, and buy for that part.
What it does on Reddit, step by step.
Bazooka sits in the outreach group, and it deliberately never posts or comments. You pick the subreddits. The complete subreddit collector gathers every author and everyone in the threads, and the specific post collector grabs every commenter on one post at every nesting depth. Each lead keeps the post it came from.
The AI reads their post, their comments, the subreddit, their karma and account age, and opens with the thing they wrote. Before any message it visits the profile and upvotes 1 to 3 posts, then starts a Reddit Chat only with people who accept chats, at 15 to 25 profile views and 12 to 18 chats a day per account, on ready-made profiles we provide. The AI closer answers, follows up and books the call. It learns which subreddits and openers convert for you and shifts effort there. Plans start at $497 a month.
Questions people ask
What is the best Reddit lead generation tool?
For free keyword alerts, F5Bot. For finding buyer-intent threads and drafting replies, RedShip, Subreddit Signals, Popsy and ReplyGuy are the common picks at $19 to $39 a month. For turning those people into booked calls, you need an outreach system that runs private conversations.
What is the best GummySearch alternative?
There isn't a one-for-one replacement. Monitoring tools like F5Bot and OctoLens cover alerts, and tools like RedShip and Subreddit Signals cover intent scoring. Choose based on whether you need research, alerts or outreach.
Why did GummySearch shut down?
GummySearch couldn't reach an agreement with Reddit for a commercial license to its Data API. It stopped signups and renewals on November 30, 2025.
Is it safe to auto-post comments on Reddit?
It's risky. Many subreddits ban self-promotion, Reddit asks you to disclose affiliations, and its spam systems judge accounts by their whole history. Auto-posted promotional comments are a common way to get accounts banned.
Can Reddit tools send DMs?
A few draft DMs for you to send. Very few run the full private conversation, including follow-ups and booking, which is where most of the value is.
Do Reddit lead tools need API access?
Many do, and since November 2025 Reddit requires approval for new API access under its Responsible Builder Policy. Ask each vendor how they get their data.
